What Makes a Wedding Invitation Look Modern?

When it comes to picking out a design for your wedding invitation, it is important to go with one that speaks about your theme. This way, you will be able to stay in tune with the decorations and the other preparations you have already chosen for your wedding.

If you have chosen your wedding to have a modern look, it is best that you go for invitations that have also been modernized. Here are some of the qualities of a modern wedding invitation:

Layout

In the past, invitations were simple and had limited space to work with. The artists that created these invitations tend to follow old formats because they have been proven to work with a traditional formal wedding. For invitations with a modern layout however, there is no rule as to how the words and graphics should be used. You may even use an asymmetrical layout to complete the look of a modern invitation.

Illustration

In tune with modern design, the illustration used on wedding invitations have no limitations to them. There are even some that make use of edgy or whimsical graphics to help add a unique touch to the invitation. Instead of placing your photos on the invitations, you may go for an artsy character representation of you both. This will provide a fun and exciting look to your invitations.

Color

Traditional wedding invitations make use of neutral color palettes to stay in tune to the feel of the theme. With modern invitations, however, you are free to use just about any color you want. You can even combine a number of colors on your invitations as long as the outcome looks good.

Typography

With the freedom to use different layouts, you can also make use of new fonts to make the wedding invitation look modern. You do not have to restrict yourself to the traditional fonts because there are plenty that make use of varying fonts on the invitation.

Really, modern wedding invitations have no limit to them. You can go with just about anything you want to include. Make sure that you work with a professional, however, so that the design will look coherent with one another. Email me for some invitation ideas.

Modern Wedding Trends That Are Building New Traditions

As you gear up to celebrate the union of your beloved family or friends or even your own know what to expect from the changing tides of weddings. Lizzie Post, co-author of “Emily Post’s Etiquette, 18th edition” and great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post, helps couples navigate the new traditions of weddings. As decades pass, so will traditions, but proper etiquette is timeless. Be prepared for the next wedding you attend and know what to expect from changes in the wedding landscape with these important pieces of advice:

Pay it forward. Finding the right gift for the newlyweds can be difficult. While registries help to point guests in the right direction, many couples are getting married later in life and already have all the household items that are common wedding gifts. To provide the couple with a small nest egg to use however they wish, a check is always a great and safe gift idea. Several financial institutions, like Bank of America, offer mobile check deposit through their banking app, allowing the couple the flexibility to deposit checks on-the-go to help cover outstanding vendor payments or use on their honeymoon. Another new-age trend is contributing to a couple’s honeymoon fund.

Temper tech use. Even weddings are going hi-tech. There are numerous websites available that can help the couple to organize the process, communicate with guests and share photos after the ceremony. But a few things, like a handwritten “thank you” note should steer clear of the hi-tech lure. In a gadget-driven society, everyone is carrying a smartphone. Couples can post a tasteful notice at the entrance of the ceremony location or in the program to remind guests to turn off their cell phone ringers and refrain from use during the ceremony. Some couples may actually encourage guests to take photos and share images via social media, but guests should respect their wishes and use phones only as a camera and upload images after the ceremony.

Respect personalization. Couples want their special day to reflect who they are and what is important to them. While previous generations traditionally wed in places of worship, many modern couples choose to tie the knot at a sentimental location, like where they had their first date. The decor, music and even the food and drink served at a wedding may have a personal story behind it. No matter how nontraditional the element may be, guests should eagerly partake in the festivities, acknowledging and respecting the couple’s individualization.

Be all-inclusive. In the past, bridal showers were strictly for the bride and bachelor parties were a men-only affair. Nowadays, these festivities are no longer gender-specific. Showers can be thrown for the couple in unison and include creative themes like “stock the bar” or “time of day.” Bachelor and bachelorette parties can also be conjoined to involve the entire bridal party in a destination event. Finding a Good Color Combination for Your Wedding Theme

For plenty of bride-to-bes, choosing the color they would want to use as the theme or motif for their wedding day is a no-brainer. It is simply the color they have grown to love over the years, a favorite color of theirs that simply relaxes and makes them feel comfortable in. While this is an easy decision for most bride-to-bes, there are others that have a difficult time in picking out the color they will be using for their big day. Moreover, choosing one color can already be a lot for them to choose from– let alone a color combination. If you are among the bride-to-bes who are having difficulty in choosing the colors you want to use for your wedding, here are some things to consider in picking out the right colors:

Location of the Ceremony and Reception

If you find picking the right color combination a difficult task for you, an option is to base it on the location on where you will be getting married. Try to visit the venue and see which colors dominate the walls, carpets, lighting, curtains, and more. This is a good way you can pick out colors to use for your wedding without having too much trouble in picking them out.

Season of the Wedding

Another way you can have an easy time in picking out colors to use for your wedding is to go with the dominating colors during the season when you are scheduled to get married. For example, if you are getting married on February, you may go with a white, red, and pink color combination as a symbolism of Valentine’s Day. Or if you have plans for a Fall wedding, you may go with rustic color choices like red, orange, and yellow. For a Christmas or winter wedding, you may combine either red and green or silver and blue.

You can easily pick out the colors that you want to use for your wedding. When it comes to combining colors, however, you can use between two or three different colors. Remember, one color should dominate the theme, the second should support it, and the third should only be used as an accent. You can combine different colors using a color wheel based on these ways:

Complementary Colors – On a color wheel, these colors are situated opposite one another. Some examples include red and green, blue and orange.
Analogous Colors – These colors are the ones which are situated right beside each other. Examples of these color combinations are green, lime green, and blue green.
Monochromatic Colors – Compared to other colors, these are the ones that have a similar tone no matter what variation is being used–dark red, bright red, etc.

An easy way for you to pick out a color combination to use for your wedding is to follow the options mentioned. You can also go through past weddings and find a color combination you enjoy. With this, you can already finalize your wedding details; starting with your invitations.

Winter Themed Wedding Invitations Ideas

When it comes to planning a wedding based on a theme, you have to choose the wedding details carefully so that it matches the theme. In the case of a winter wedding theme, it is important to go with the colors white, blue, and silver as these are the ones that represent winter.

But apart from just picking out colors for your wedding theme, your winter wedding also needs to play its part. From picking out invitations to designing your wedding reception, you need to live out the wedding as if it were truly winter.

A lot of people decide on their color because of the season. Like my wedding, my colors were lavender and silver.  It’s not only because the wedding was in spring but also they are happy cheerful colors.

For winter weddings, Noteable Expressions sells a lot of royal blue, navy blue, silver, grey, and white. And for the style, it all depends on what couples would like to have.  The invitation really sets the tone of the wedding. I usually come up with different designs to match or present the wedding theme better such as:

Choose a design carefully that you would like to use for your own winter themed wedding. We can also personalize your own wedding invitation, especially if there are some specific colors you would like to be included. Visit my website today to look at our other invitation options.

What to Include in Your Wedding Programs

You know what to write on your save the date cards, and the invitation is a no-brainer for you. But when it comes to your wedding programs, are you at a loss? The wedding program is a helpful addition to any wedding’s stationery, but can often cause confusion for brides. Here are a few things to include in your wedding programs.

Order of Ceremony/Order of Service

This lets your guest know what will happen during your ceremony. This includes any readings, songs, or special ceremonies you might want to include. This is also a good place to include the name of the officiant.

Wedding Party Names

For larger weddings, in particular, having the wedding party identified in the program can be a nice addition. This gives all those who have helped an extra bit of recognition on the big day.

Reception Details

In a larger program, you can also include details about the reception. If you have set times for the meal, cake cutting, speeches, and first dance, you can tell your guests when they can expect these special moments.

Other Information

Your program can also include special information and messages for your guests. This can be the story of how you met, information about nearby places to visit, or even an invitation to a day-after brunch.

The key to any great wedding program is to choose a design that fits with the rest of your wedding stationery. Working with an expert wedding stationery designer can ensure that everything comes out perfectly. To find out what I can do for your wedding programs, send me an email today!

Why Invitations are important: Introducing Fall Theme Invitation

Despite the advancements in technology that are prevalent in today’s time and age, there is no comparing to the effect of receiving a printed actual invitation. Especially in weddings, it is really important that you send out real invitations instead of the ones you can send through email. The main purpose of the invitation is to announce your wedding to your friends and family members. At the same time, you are giving them useful information they will need for your big day.

Here are some of the things that wedding invitations can do:

When you receive an invitation for a wedding, you get a glimpse of what theme the couple has planned for their wedding. Since the invitation serves as a first impression, the engaged couple will look for a way to make it good.

The invitation informs you of the theme the couple has chosen for their big day. You can use the invitation as a basis on what the theme is. At the same time, you can already start preparing what to wear for the wedding you were invited to because of the colors used on the wedding invitation.

Details on the wedding invitation will not be forgotten. Compared to an email, the recipient may push the email further into the back and will completely forget about the event until it’s a few days before the wedding. Instead of this, a wedding invitation can help by being clipped on a refrigerator and act as a constant reminder.

If you are interested in having your wedding invitations printed, you should go for the theme that you want to use for your wedding. Instead of traditional white invitations, couples prefer going for invitations bearing the color and theme that they using for their wedding. An upcoming trend for weddings are fall season themes. If you would like to use this theme for your wedding, you will need to use fall inspired colors so that the invitation will look its best. You can also include other reminiscent of fall such as branches, berries, leaves, and many more.

If a fall theme wedding is what you would like to have, make sure that you email me to learn how I can help you!

A Great Wedding Invitation Requires Preparation

You want the perfect wedding invitations, but this means doing a bit of preparation. By preparing a few things, you’ll help your wedding invitation designer create the beautiful wedding stationery you’ve been dreaming of.

Style

First off, you should have an idea of the style of wedding you’ll be planning. You don’t need to know all the details, but knowing whether you’re going to throw a relaxed beach wedding or glamorous vintage wedding is important. This can help your designer suggest an invitation style that suits your wedding. This will include paper type, materials, type of printing, color combinations, and other elements that will give your guests a sense of what they can expect from your big day.

Color

Knowing your wedding colors will be a big help for you and your designer. Your color choice can inform the design, but don’t feel like you have to pull together a full palate yourself. Your designer can help by suggesting other colors work with your main wedding color.

Guests

Before you get started, make sure you know how many guests you’ll be inviting. You’ll need to have a guest list before you order your invitations. Ordering too few will mean reordering, and ordering too many will mean wasted invitations. Your guest count will also have a big impact on your budget. Whatever your guest count, a good invitation designer should be able to suggest the right design for your budget, the right quantity to order, and offer flexibility on reordering. Here at Noteable Expressions, I offer a low reorder minimum and fast turnaround.

Wording

You might have the wording of your invitation all worked out, or you might be at a complete loss. Either way, you should prepare by knowing what your questions or concerns are. This will allow your designer to help by suggesting the wording that is right for you and your wedding.

If you are ready to start browsing invitations stop by Noteable Expressions

To find out more about how to prepare for your wedding invitations, send me an email. I can help make your dream invitation a reality
