Wedding DIY Push Pop Confetti

Materials

Push pop containers
Push pop stand
Confetti
Kraft labels
Scissors/paper cutter

Directions

Step-1 Print out your kraft labels. You may use a couple’s logo, or create escort cards, or even just write a fun saying like we did. Each label should be 6″ x 2″ once cut, and you are able to print 5 labels per each 8 1/2″ x 11″ label sheet. (If you have beautiful handwriting – even better! You can simply cut labels to size, and handwrite whatever you would like).

Step-2 Assemble the push pops, and carefully stick a label on each. Leave the tops off for now.

Step-3 Stuff each push pop with confetti. While you can easily make your own confetti with scissors and tissue paper, we bought this fun neon batch from Knot & Bow.

Step-4 Place the tops on each push pop, and place all of the push pops in the stand. When ready to celebrate, take the top off, push up, and shout hooray!

Wedding DIY Fresh Flower Drink Stirrer

If I could, I’d put fresh flowers on just about anything, so why not in a cocktail too? With a sweet set of vintage glasses from Pollen Floral Design and always gorgeous photos from Cambria Grace, these fresh flower drink stirrers have me ready to sip and smell!

Materials

Wood Skewers
Fresh Flowers
Gold Embroidery Thread
Hot Glue Gun

Directions

Step-1 For larger flowers, such as a ranunculus or a poppy, snip off most of the stem, leaving a bit right under the flower head. For smaller and more wild flowers, such as chamomile or aster, snip off one stem with a small bunch.

Step-2 For the larger flowers, all you need to do is simply skewer the stem. Piece of cake! For the smaller flowers, use the gold embroidery thread to wrap around the base until tightly wound. (As you will see, I used some gold thread to embellish some of the larger flowers as well)!

Step-3 Place a dot of hot glue on the back of the embroidery thread, and use the glue to seal the thread.

Step-4 Pour yourself a cocktail, and enjoy! The floral scent while you sip is just an added bonus.

Wedding DIY Heart Backdrop

Isn't this backdrop fabulous?! You can tweak it to match your own decor and colors and fab it up for you!

Materials

Metallic Fringe Curtain (available at party stores or Amazon)
Cardboard
Xacto Knife, Box Cutter or Scissors
Decorative Paper
Double Stick Tape or Glue Dots
Flat Tacks and Nails

Instructions

step-1 Use a piece of scrap paper to draw a large heart and cut it out. Place the heart on the cardboard and trace the outline with a pencil.

step-2 Carefully cut out the cardboard heart. Use the same stencil to trace the outline of the heart on your decorative paper.

step-3 Cut out the heart — giving your self a little excess paper on the edges so you completely cover the cardboard.

step-4 Use double stick tape or glue dots to adhere the paper to the cardboard.

step-5 Hang the fringe curtain using nails or tacks.

step-6 Position the heart in the middle of the fringe curtain and slide flat thumbtacks between the paper and cardboard and onto the wall (so they don’t show)

Make a Wedding Heirloom Table Runner

When my friend Jeanine Caron married her British boy, Joe, I knew I had to have something special to offer the newlyweds. As it happened, I had a set of four vintage napkins that had been in Jeanine’s Montreal apartment, which she gifted to me before she moved house to London. (She gave them to me because I loved them so much, so only two went into this runner. Two are still with me!)
As it happens, I knew just the person to help me incorporate this sentimental textile into an heirloom linen:  Maya Donenfeld. As Maya says, “I love taking something old and transforming it into something fresh and new.”

Jeanine and Joe’s table runner features rescued coffee sacks on either end. The heavy weight keeps it in place and minimizes the likelihood of a breeze sweeping it up at an outdoor event. Burlap, a rustic and humble fabric, balances out the more decorative middle. Its durability and strength anchor the runner symbolically, as well as aesthetically. The focal point of the runner is a vintage linen piece that was once a part of a trousseau. The blue embroidery echoed the napkins’ blue floral fabric perfectly; the fact that it was replaying its original role as wedding linen felt just right.
As you gather elements for your project, consider using a ribbon from a mother’s wedding dress, a scrap from a grandmother’s favorite apron, or cherished vintage napkins from a dear friend, as we did in this case.

Wedding DIY Favors: Bellini Petal Lollipops

The beauty of wedding flowers isn’t limited to bridal bouquets: you can easily share blooms with your guests in lollipop form! To make these truly toast-worthy treats, flavor with champagne and peach candy oils to emulate the delicious flavor of a Bellini cocktail.
I chose mini pink rose petals and fresh mint as the inclusions for these pops, but you can use most any edible flower – provided it has a pleasant taste. Remember, just because a flower is non-poisonous does not mean it is also delicious.

Here’s my list of edible flowers that are accessible and tasty:
Basil
Chamomile
Johnny-jump-ups
Lavender
Marigolds
Pansies
Roses
Violas
Violets

Ring Bearer Wedding Banner

The ring bearer provides the perfect opportunity to add a dash of humor to a wedding, as you never know what little boys will do!

This “He Put a Ring on It” banner will provide some much-needed comic relief right before the bride enters, as well as a practical and safe way to transport the pair of rings. With just a small ribbon attachment, the rings will also take the spotlight at the ceremony. The best part about the project is that there is absolutely no sewing involved!
